Historically retirement has been a goal that many Americans expected to reach, however over the past several years, the concept of retirement has changed and for some has become an unattainable goal. One could argue this change and negative shift could have been aided by the pandemic. Nonetheless, a significant shift has taken place. In partnership with AARP, New York Life Investments spent 2021 engaging with over 3,000 investors on their feelings towards retirement and the activities needed to reach a successful retirement. Our findings show that:

  • Women overall feel less prepared for retirement than men.
  • Only 29% of women are optimistic about retirement.
  • Women are twice as likely as men to feel isolated in retirement.
  • Only 41% of women believe they are getting access to the right kind of financial advice.
  • Women are looking for a more holistic approach to retirement planning including focus on health, wealth and self.
Join us for this live webcast that will explore the data and provide insight on:
  • Women’s opinions on retirement
  • How the 4 women investor segments view retirement
  • Opportunities for closing the preparedness gap
