Subjally On RBC Global’s Differentiated Investment Approach

Habib Subjally, Senior Portfolio Manager & Head of Global Equities, RBC Global Asset Management joins Julie Cooling, Founder & CEO, RIA Channel to discuss his uniquely global investment perspective and RBC’s differentiated approach to identifying great companies around the world.

The RBC Global Equity team’s investment philosophy aims to find great businesses at attractive valuations that, in the long-term, will significantly outperform the market. “Great businesses take capital – physical capital, intellectual capital, financial capital, human capital – and they multiply it. Our job as portfolio manager is to identify those companies that generate wealth, and transmit that wealth creation to our investor,” says Subjally.

Going beyond traditional financial analysis, RBC Global Asset Management’s fundamental, bottom-up investment approach leverages the team’s deep industry experience, extensive qualitative research, and ESG integration principals. Subjally says he sees the firm’s nuanced ESG analysis as an alpha generator and contributor to outperformance, explaining that companies that invest in the future, have a much greater potential to become more valuable over time. The RBC Global Equities team also carefully considers macro risk amongst other risk factors when constructing client portfolios. RBC leverages a team of dedicated risk managers, database technology, and proprietary risk models alongside it’s ‘Best Ideas’ approach.
