Parametric’s Brown On Direct Indexing

Parametric's Jeff Brown On Direct IndexingJeff Brown, Director, Institutional Portfolio Manager, Parametric met with Julie Cooling, Founder & CEO, RIA Channel to discuss direct indexing and building deeper client relationships. Parametric, now affiliated with Eaton Vance, partners with advisors, institutions, and consultants to deliver client driven portfolio solutions. As a leader in customization,  Parametric aims to help investors access efficient market exposure and design portfolios that can respond to evolving needs. In addition to custom core holdings, the firm also offers systematic alpha and alternative strategies. Parametric’s SMA and direct indexing solutions give investors the ability to integrate their own values and perspectives into their investments. This level of customization, provides advisors with the opportunity to have deeper conversations and build longterm relationships with their clients. Similar to ETFs, direct indexing provides low cost and efficient access to markets. Rather than owning the bundle of stocks in a single product, direct indexing replicates the underlying index and allows the investor to own the individual securities in a passive allocation, offering certain tax advantages. Today Parametric manages nearly $300 billion in assets across a range of products and strategies, covering responsible investing, factors, emerging markets, liquid alternatives, fixed income, and beyond. Jeff is responsible for supporting development and distribution of Parametric’s investment products. Prior to joining Parametric in 2000, Jeff spent two years as a portfolio manager with Laird Norton Trust Company, where he worked closely with taxable clients to design, develop, and implement various portfolio solutions. He earned a BA in business from the University of Washington. A CFA charterholder, Jeff is a member of the CFA Society of Seattle and the Seattle Society of Financial Analysts.
