Summary:

Now On Demand

For the first time in 50 years, both stocks and bonds have declined at the same time during the first half of 2022 while inflation has risen to levels not seen in 40 years. Many other financial assets, such as REITs, have also declined, creating challenges to diversify effectively. Commodities have historically performed well during such inflationary episodes, including during “stagflation” in the 1970s. We will review both the long-term history and recent market performance of such assets and inflation, highlighting the important role commodities provide to diversified portfolios.
