George Milling-Stanley is Chief Gold Strategist with State Street Global Advisors. He joined SSGA as a Vice President and Head of Gold Strategy in November 2014. Before joining SSGA, George ran the independent consultancy George Milling-Stanley on Gold, LLC. He retired from the World Gold Council in 2011 after a 15-year career there. Most recently he had been responsible for all programs involving central banks, governments, and regulatory authorities. Before that, he was a key member of the small team that pioneered the development of gold-backed Exchange Traded Funds. His earlier career included six years on the precious metals trading desk of Lehman Brothers.

Previously he worked for Consolidated Gold Fields in London, and before that spent 10 years as a reporter and columnist with the Financial Times. An acknowledged authority on all aspects of the gold business, George Milling-Stanley is a regular speaker at international conferences.

John Reade John Reade Market Strategist World Gold Council

John Reade is Market Strategist: Europe and Asia and is based in London. He joined the World Gold Council in 2017 and, working closely with the research team, is responsible for developing strategy about gold and engaging with all aspects of the gold market. He is also one of the principle spokespeople for the organization.

John has over 35 years’ experience in the gold industry and has worked for gold mining companies in production and project evaluation; for investment banks as an equity analyst and gold strategist; and at an asset manager as gold strategist and portfolio manager.

John has a degree in Mining Engineering from the Royal School of Mines, a constituent of Imperial College, London.

Brie P. Williams Brie P. Williams Vice President, Head of Practice Management State Street Global Advisors

Brie Williams is Vice President of State Street Global Advisors and Head of Practice Management for the Global SPDR Business. She is responsible for working with wealth managers, asset managers, and financial advisors to build sustainable business value in a fast-changing market. Brie is also the Americas ETF ESG Champion to advance the integration of SPDR ESG solutions with clients and partners.

Brie and her team of Practice Management specialists are recognized for their award-winning work that focuses on change management, providing counsel on issues in strategy, organization, client segmentation, and consumer behavior. She is the author of several articles related to wealth management practices, a contributor to the financial news media, and a highly regarded speaker at industry events. Brie was recognized by ThinkAdvisor as a Women in Wealth Management Trailblazer in 2020, and by Inkandescent Women on their 15 Pioneering Women list in 2022.

Prior to joining State Street Global Advisors, Brie was a Senior Vice President at Putnam Investments where she was responsible for their global brand strategy and building go-to-market strategies for the U.S. retail mutual fund business. Her professional background includes a career in advertising and consumer research, collaborating with brands that we all know and love, including Frito-Lay, McDonald’s, and Target. Her work on Vonage earned her a Bronze Effie Award.

Brie received her Master of Arts degree from Emerson College and her bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University. She holds the FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses. Brie is a member of the Professional Women’s Network at State Street and represents Women in ETFs on their Speaker’s Bureau.
