Summary:

Now On Demand.

For years, real estate investors have taken advantage of using the 1031 like-kind exchange rules to defer capital gains tax when selling and reinvesting in real estate. Now, the opportunity zone (OZ) program offers favorable capital gain treatment that registered investment advisors (RIAs) can use to enhance their clients’ asset diversification and estate planning strategies. Given the OZ program is still relatively new and often misunderstood, now is the time to get ahead for 2019 tax return filing and provide your clients with tax-efficient strategies.

This webcast will focus on advanced strategies to advise your clients with substantial realized or unrealized capital gains. Our OZ specialists will debunk the many misconceptions about the program, and provide you with a framework to advise your clients on comparing OZ and non-OZ options for investing proceeds from a capital gain event. We will use real, available OZ investments to walk through examples of the benefits of this investment option.

After attending this webcast, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the OZ program and the benefit to investors
  • Identify clients with substantial capital gains and determine if OZs are a good alternative option
  • Quantify OZ benefits to compare OZ and non-OZ investment options
  • Recognize how OZs fit into an asset diversification strategy using non-correlated investments
  • Super-charge estate planning with OZ investments
