Summary:

Recent changes to the Russell 1000 Value have meaningfully altered the composition of one of the industry’s most widely followed Value benchmarks. Despite the significance of these changes, many financial professionals remain unaware of how the reconstitution has affected sector allocations, constituent holdings, and the practical definition of "value" within passive and active investment strategies.

This educational panel discussion will examine how benchmark changes may influence portfolio construction, manager evaluation, risk characteristics, and client conversations, while providing both U.S. and global perspectives on the evolving value investing landscape.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain how the Russell 1000 Value’s recent reconstitution has changed the benchmark’s composition.
  • Explain several types of valuation measures for evaluating today’s companies.
  • Distinguish between index-based definitions of value investing and active value investment approaches.
  • Apply insights from the benchmark changes to client discussions and investment decision-making using both U.S. and International market perspectives.
