Syntax Data is a financial data and technology company that uses patented technologies to classify companies at the product level. This data set can facilitate better decision-making at lower costs. The fundamental data led to an index development platform and custom indexes. The product currently covers publicly traded companies, and Syntax is building partnerships to develop classifications for private companies.
Sandys notes that it is critical to see a company through different lenses, such as multiple product lines or types of customers. For example, Amazon.com is a retail distribution business, Amazon Prime is a media company, and Amazon Web Services is a technology company.
Growth is exploding in the custom indexing business, which enables tax-loss harvesting and personalization for client preferences. The Syntax Direct indexing technology is available as the Personalized Index Engine on the Advyzon platform.
