Jeff Diamond, Global Head of Wealth Management Distribution for Polen Capital, joined Zoe Hunt, Host of RIA Channel, to discuss the growing demand for tax-efficient investment solutions and the continued growth of ETFs.
Following a decade of historically strong U.S. equity performance, Diamond notes that investors face challenges around rebalancing portfolios while remaining aligned with their risk tolerance. Since selling appreciated securities can create taxable events, he finds that tax efficiency and tax optimization solutions have become increasingly popular among clients.
Diamond explains that ETFs were originally viewed as a solely low-cost way to access broad markets, however investors have also recognized their benefits around tax efficiency, transparency, and simplicity. He also highlights how a Section 351 ETF exchange can offer a tax-deferred pathway to transition legacy stock positions into an ETF, without triggering capital gains while simultaneously diversifying their portfolios.
Diamond also points to Polen’s 5Perspectives investment franchise, which combines the fundamental investing that has been core to the firm for more than 37 years with thematic and technical analysis to help deliver better outcomes for clients.
