The Nasdaq Biotechnology Index (NBI) offers a rules-based, cap-weighted benchmark for one of the fasting growing sectors in tech. NBI captures hundreds of Nasdaq-listed biotech and pharmaceutical companies and its modified cap-weighted approach ensures that top industry leaders and most influential players in biotech are weighted accordingly.

In June of 2021, Nasdaq and Invesco partnered to launch the Invesco Nasdaq Biotechnology ETF (IBBQ), which tracks the underlying investment results of the Nasdaq Biotechnology Index and aims provide investors with access to innovative companies shaping the biotech landscape.  While Biotech has caught widespread attention due to its role in curbing the pandemic, it represents a wide scope of technologies beyond vaccines, including therapeutics and genomics. Top holdings include Amgen (AMGN), Illumina (ILMN), Moderna (MRNA), and Biogen (BIIB)
