Lazard’s Stephanie Schils On Active Management In Less Efficiently Priced Markets

Stephanie Schils, Head of ETF Sales Strategy for Lazard Asset Management, joined Julie Cooling, Founder and CEO of RIA Channel, to discuss Lazard’s suite of actively managed equity ETFs.

Lazard recently launched seven actively managed equity ETFs, which collectively reached over $800 million in assets by November 2025. Lazard built the fund lineup with three key differentiators.  First, the funds focus on asset classes where Lazard has foundational expertise, where clients trust their capabilities. The investment teams are highly experienced, often working together for one to two decades. Finally, the strategies have strong long-term track records.

Known as an active manager, Lazard focuses its efforts on less efficient markets, with strategies that can be implemented using fundamental or quantitative analysis. These markets include US small-cap and emerging market equities.

Schils notes that this year, investment opportunities have expanded beyond the Magnificent Seven US stocks to focus on international equity markets. The drivers of this rotation include shifting trade policies, geopolitical risks, and currency market dynamics.

The Lazard Emerging Markets Opportunities ETF (EMKT) provides core exposure to emerging markets and is managed by a team that oversees $37 billion in assets.

The Lazard International Dynamic Equity ETF (IDEQ) invests using an active, bottom-up, quantitative approach with core exposure to international equity markets. IDEQ is managed by a team with $32 billion in assets with almost two decades of experience.

The Lazard Listed Infrastructure ETF (GLIX) invests in a portfolio of monopolistic companies providing essential services, which can be more defensive and inflation-sensitive. The management team of GLIX manages $18 billion and is a pioneer in infrastructure investing.

The Lazard US Systematic Small Cap Equity ETF (SYZ) combines automation with fundamental insights to capture inefficiencies.
