Invesco’s Brian Hartigan On QQQ Crossing $500 Billion In Assets

Brian Hartigan, Global Head of ETFs and Index Investments for Invesco, joined Zoe Hunt, Host of RIA Channel, to discuss the enduring strength of the Invesco QQQ ETF as it surpasses $500 billion in assets under management and how Invesco is expanding access to the Nasdaq ecosystem through its QQQ Innovation Suite.

QQQ’s recent crossing of $500 billion in assets under management marks a significant milestone for one of the industry’s most established ETFs. As a longtime manager of the ETF, Hartigan has witnessed its evolution across multiple market cycles firsthand, from the early days of internet infrastructure to today’s AI-driven innovation. While the underlying companies have changed over time, he emphasizes that QQQ has consistently adapted alongside the market and the Nasdaq-100, capturing some of the market’s most influential growth themes and enabling investors to maintain exposure to many of the market’s leading innovators.

As one of the earliest ETFs, QQQ was originally structured as a unit investment trust, limiting features common in modern ETFs. Hartigan explains that Invesco has since modernized QQQ, enabling dividend reinvestment, introducing securities lending, and reducing fees.

Hartigan also highlights Invesco’s QQQ Innovation Suite, which provides investors with multiple ways to access the Nasdaq ecosystem based on their investment objectives. Offerings include the Invesco QQQ Income Advantage ETF (QQA) for options-based income, the Invesco Top QQQ ETF (QBIG) for increased concentration in the index’s largest holdings, the recently launched Invesco QQQ Equal Weight ETF (QEW) for a more balanced, lower-volatility approach, and the Invesco Nasdaq Next Gen 100 ETF (QQQJ), which provides exposure to tomorrow’s leaders before they enter the Nasdaq-100.
