Marissa Ansell, Lead Client Portfolio Manager For Thematic Investing, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, met with Julie Cooling, Founder & CEO, RIA Channel to discuss the firm’s recently launched suite of thematic ETFs.
Goldman Sachs Motif ETFs invest in the “beneficiaries of innovation,” says Ansell. Rather than look to traditional sector classifications or cap weighted strategies, the suite of products aim to capture the new winners of a rapidly changing investment landscape.
Carefully selected by industry experts and research analysts all over the word, the five themes span big data, finance, advances in healthcare, manufacturing and the new age consumer. Motif, the index provider behind the funds, leverages its expertise in data science to deliver precise thematic exposure to the investor. Ansell says the five new ETFs (GDAT, GFIN, GDNA, GMAN, GBUY) may be used individually to overweight a certain exposure, to fill a portfolio gap or collectively to gain broad, diversified global equity exposure.
