FINIAT’s Rob Bandy On Quantitative, Active Portfolio Strategies

Rob Bandy, CEO of FINIAT, joined Julie Cooling, Founder and CEO of RIA Channel, to discuss how advisors can use technology to personalize portfolios that adapt to changing market conditions.

FINIAT is a technology and quantitative portfolio management company built with a goal of making advisors stand out. Bandy notes that advisors are looking to attract high-net-worth clients, build deeper relationships, and adapt their portfolios to changing market conditions.

FINIAT’s platform allows for hyperpersonalization for advisors by blending its quantitative models with portfolios built by advisors. Advisors can build models customized for each of their clients. The models are based on mathematical concepts and not artificial intelligence.  AI, however, is integrated into the technology built for advisors, which facilitates client communications.

Bandy states that the growth of passive strategies was driven by low costs and low market volatility, but it can be difficult for clients in times of large drawdowns.  Markets with increasing volatility and policy uncertainties may increase opportunities for active managers to provide value by adapting to market conditions.
