EMQQ’s Carter On Capturing Emerging Markets Upside

Kevin Carter, Founder & CIO, EMQQ Global, joins Julie Cooling, Founder & CEO, RIA Channel, to discuss the growth opportunity in emerging markets.

EMQQ Global is an index, advisory, and research company that capitalizes on opportunities brought forth by global digitization. There have been two major digitization waves, explains Carter. The first came with the invention and spread of Amazon, eBay, and Google in the United States. Digitization of the same scale in China set the second wave of digitization into motion. Investors are now on the precipice of the third wave, which is the mass digitization and the spread of digital capabilities that’s occurring in India.

According to current estimates, Carter explains, India’s economy will grow by over 8% this year. 7 million people a month in India are getting computers and access to the internet for the first time. Carter predicts that this internet access will launch the third wave of digitization and lead to massive growth and opportunities for upside for investors.

“This is a story of growth, and it’s still in its very early innings,” says Carter. “There’s no place on the planet where you’re going to find more growth in a sector than in the emerging and frontier market industries over the coming decade.”

“We have three funds, but they all are part of the same story,” explains Carter. Those funds are The Emerging Markets Internet and Ecommerce Index (EMQQ), The Frontier Markets Internet and Ecommerce Index (FMQQ), and The India Internet and Ecommerce Index (INQQ).

EMQQ, the firm’s flagship product, tracks an index of leading internet and ecommerce companies in the developing world. These companies include online retail, search engines, social networking, online travel, and e-payments. FMQQ tracks an index of internet and ecommerce companies from the developing world, except China. Lastly, INQQ tracks an index of internet and ecommerce companies exclusively in India.

EMQQ Global was launched in 2014 by Kevin T. Carter. The firm helps investors capture the opportunities for growth that fast growing internet and ecommerce creates.
