Summary:

Commodities are one of the most misunderstood asset classes in investing. Many investors have limited experience with commodities, and much of what is commonly "known" about the asset class is incomplete, outdated, or simply wrong. Separating fact from fiction can be surprisingly difficult.

Interest in commodities has surged after years of neglect, driven by higher interest rates, persistent inflation, geopolitical uncertainty, and growing concerns about resource scarcity. Yet many allocators continue to evaluate commodities using assumptions that no longer reflect today’s markets.

Join USCF Investments and SummerHaven for a discussion that challenges conventional wisdom and revisits some of the most important, and often forgotten, lessons in commodity investing. We will provide a global macro update, review the fundamentals of commodities as an asset class, and explore commodity market dynamics through the lens of scarcity and inventory. The webinar will also examine the SummerHaven Dynamic Commodity Index (SDCITR), which rebalances monthly based on forward-looking measures of commodity scarcity. We will discuss the rationale behind this approach and compare it with traditional commodity indexes that typically rebalance annually and are primarily weighted by market size and liquidity.

Whether you are new to commodities or have invested in the asset class for years, you may find that some of what you think you know… ain’t so.
