Ben Warren, Co-Founder and Principal of Clear Creek Financial Management, joined Julie Cooling, Founder and CEO of RIA Channel, to discuss how the firm grows by attracting advisors.
Clear Creek Financial Management is an RIA with $1.5 billion in AUM. The firm was established in 2014 as a breakaway from a large broker-dealer. Clear Creek has grown over time by aggregating financial advisors. Advisors choose to join because of the firm’s technology and growth platforms.
Many RIA rollups are owned by large conglomerates or private equity firms, which have the goal of increasing the value of the business by attracting more financial advisors. Clear Creek works more like a co-op for advisors who want camaraderie in their business and to benefit from the efficiencies and scale of a larger firm.
Clear Creek advisors have the freedom to build their own portfolios or delegate that task to the firm. The firm invests in alternatives and structured products through CAIS and iCapital, benefitting from the platforms’ due diligence processes.
