Matt Brown, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CAIS, joined Julie Cooling, Founder and CEO of RIA Channel, at the CAIS Alternative Investment Summit to discuss how the summit provides independent financial advisors a forum to meet with and learn about alternative asset managers.
The first CAIS Summit in 2022 had over 300 attendees, while the 2023 Summit had over 1,000 attendees, making it the largest alternative investment conference for the independent wealth space.
CAIS started with a marketplace model where technology assisted the pre-trade experience where advisors can access information regarding alternative investment managers. The trade experience makes it easy to buy alternative investment funds. The post-trade experience manages the funds you own. While purchasing alternative investments can be manual and cumbersome, CAIS seeks to make the experience as easy as investing in a mutual fund. The CAIS platform has the largest market share, with 32,000 financial advisors on the system. In 2023, over 1,000 advisors converted by making their first purchase on the CAIS platform.
The platform provides advisors with access to over 100 alternative investment managers. When accessing the independent wealth advisor channel, alternative investment managers offer new products with features that are helpful to clients, such as lower minimum investments and evergreen structures with greater liquidity than institutional funds.
