Chris Matta, President, 3iQ Digital Assets (US), Dan Eyre, Cofounder & CEO, BITRIA joined Julie Cooling, Founder & CEO, RIA Channel to discuss crypto SMA solutions for advisors.
BITRIA, previously known as BlockChange, is a technology-driven platform designed exclusively around bringing wealth advisors and asset managers together to deliver more efficient, customizable access to digital assets. BITRIA’s built-in Separately Managed Account network allows advisors to outsource their digital assets allocation to leading digital asset managers, like 3iQ and integrate digital assets into their portfolio at scale.
BITRIA and 3iQ’s suite of model portfolios and SMA solutions will tap into Gemini’s institutional-quality custodian services and integrate with traditional advisor tools likes Orion and Addepar. 3iQ launched the first Bitcoin exchange-traded product in Canada, and is one of the largest digital asset managers globally with roughly $3 billion under management.
“An advisor ultimately has to decide how they want to access the asset class,” explains Matta. While futures-based crypto ETFs are not necessarily designed for long-term holders and private funds present liquidity challenges, accessing digital assets via an SMA structure can offer unique advantages such as 24/7 liquidity and full flexibility. SMAs give advisors the choice to invest in a single crypto asset, broad digital assets exposure, or in actively managed strategies. Eyre reiterates that “having a digital asset manager gives you a huge leg up,” pointing to the rapidly evolving crypto industry and differences in fundamentals when comparing digital against traditional asset classes.
BITRIA, 3iQ and Gemini’s new partnership aims to harness of the power of 3iQ’s digital asset management expertise with the tech-enabled scalability that BITRIA and Gemini provide, in a way thats familiar to RIAs.
