Patricia Ribeiro, Senior Portfolio Manager and Nathan Chaudoin, Senior Client Portfolio Manager at American Century Investments discuss their outlook on emerging markets, the global economic recovery, as well as potential opportunities and risks.
Emerging markets may be poised to rally toward the end of the year and into 2022. Reasons for optimism include improving vaccination distribution and ongoing global economic recovery. Additionally, markets have digested some of the temporary headwinds that have faced EM recently, including regulations out of China, inflationary expectations and global supply chain issues.
The American Century Emerging Markets Fund, managed by Riberio, leverages a selective and focused approach to identify bottom-up opportunities to account for differences in growth, vaccination rates, and COVID-19 case data across individual EM countries. The fund aims to achieve long-term outperformance and seeks companies in emerging markets with sustainable, and accelerating earning growth.
