Brett Hickey has 20+ years of U.S. lower middle-market private investing and investment banking experience. He has completed over 300 private equity, private credit and secondary fund investments.

Mr. Hickey is the Founder & CEO of Star Mountain Capital, LLC, a multi-billion dollar specialized private investment firm with over 130 employees, making loans, private equity investments and secondary fund purchases across its Collaborative Ecosystem® in the lower middle-market. Driven by culture and stakeholder alignment, Star Mountain is routinely recognized as one of the Best Places to Work by Crain’s and Pensions & Investments.

Mr. Hickey previously worked as an Investment Banker within the Financial Institutions Group at Citigroup Global Markets in New York City (formerly known as Salomon Smith Barney). He graduated with Distinction from McGill University in Canada with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance and Accounting. He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School’s Owner, President / Manager executive training and management program.

Board positions include Harvard Alumni Entrepreneurs, YMCA of Greenwich, and Star Mountain Charitable Foundation, focused on job creation (including for veterans, women and athletes), economic development and health & wellness. He is a member of YPO (since 2008) and Chief Executive Organization.

Nicholas Jones, CFA, CAIA Nicholas Jones, CFA, CAIA Vice President Star Mountain Capital

Nicholas Jones, CFA, CAIA, currently serves as Vice President at Star Mountain Capital, where he is focused on the firm’s Secondaries strategy. Mr Jones’ responsibilities include providing strategic debt and equity capital to private businesses and offering liquidity solutions to investors. Prior to this role, Nicholas was a Senior Associate at The Beneficient Company Group, focusing on investment underwriting in special situations and debt. Experience at IHS Markit as a Private Equity Associate Vice President involved conducting valuations for a diverse portfolio. Earlier roles at Manning & Napier encompassed equity research in both emerging markets and the consumer sector for an asset manager with $50bn AUM. Nicholas also contributed to academia as a Graduate Assistant and Economics Instructor at Ohio University while earning a Master’s degree in Financial Economics. An undergraduate degree in Economics was obtained from The University of Toledo. Additionally, Nicholas demonstrated leadership skills as a Project Manager for The Ability Experience, organizing a cross-country charity cycling journey.
