Sapere Aude’s Rob Job On Expanding Access To Careers In Wealth Management for First-Gen College Students

Rob Job, Founder of Sapere Aude Consortium, joined Julie Cooling, Founder and CEO of RIA Channel, at the 2026 MMI Annual Conference to discuss how the organization is expanding access to career opportunities in the investment and wealth management industries for high-potential first-generation college students.

Job explains that Sapere Aude, Latin for “Dare to Know,” is a nonprofit organization focused on helping first-generation college students and children of public servants gain exposure to the financial services industry. Over the past seven years, the organization has served 165 students through its nine-week virtual summer program. Students work in small teams to develop research papers on topics relevant to the investment management industry. Past examples include women and wealth and financial security for low-income households.

Job highlights the program’s success in helping students pursue career opportunities, as alumni having secured positions at about 40 institutions. Alumni of the program secure internships and early-career roles through standard, competitive recruiting processes, with 89% advancing to subsequent internships or professional opportunities.
