Three Bell Capital’s Jon Porter On A Single Fund Solution For Accessing Alternative Investments

Jon Porter, Founder and CEO of Three Bell Capital, joined Julie Cooling, Founder and CEO of RIA Channel, to discuss making the firm’s multi-manager alternative investment product available to other RIAs.

Porter notes that market volatility mandates that investors diversify outside of stocks and bonds. Three Bell Capital built a robust fund-of-funds platform that allows its clients to allocate across venture capital, private equity, private credit, and hedged equity in a single fund. The fund allocates to 50 to 60 managers, many of them boutiques that are much better at investment management than marketing. Investing in a multi-manager product allows investors to access a highly diversified portfolio with minimum investment and paperwork requirements much lower than those for direct investments in individual funds. In the first quarter of 2026, Three Bell Capital will offer this fund to other RIAs that may not have the resources to build a robust alternative investment offering.

Three Bell also offers an exchange fund called Damascus. Rather than investing the exchange fund in an index, such as the S&P 500, the fund actively manages a Warren Buffett-like portfolio that screens holdings by factors including the growth of dividends, revenues, and cash flows. This concentrated portfolio, now holding just 23 stocks, would have earned returns twice those of the S&P 500 since 2013. The exchange fund allows investors with concentrated positions to diversify their portfolios into quality stocks while deferring tax liabilities on their embedded gains.
