Positioning Portfolios in a Rising Rate Environment – Nasdaq – 9.6.18

Now On Demand.

Real estate is a key component for portfolio diversification and asset allocation but not all real estate is created equal. As interest rates rise, investors need to position their portfolios accordingly as the dispersion of property returns will become more pronounced. Each property sector has distinct characteristics, including lease duration, barriers to supply, and specific economic drivers. These factors will lead some real estate sectors to perform better than others in a growing economy and rising interest rate environment.

Publicly traded real estate securities are just like stock. In the broad equity markets, different sectors tend to perform independently, like high flying technology stocks versus capital intensive utilities, as their business models vary significantly. This webinar will address:

  • The benefits of publicly traded real estate
  • The different property sectors
  • Increasing portfolio yield
  • How inflation impacts real estate returns
  • How rising interest rates affect real estate
