Collaboration Is Key: Fulcrum’s Approach To Values-based Investing

Janet Welcher, Managing Director, and Michelle Mathieu, Chief Investment Strategist, Fulcrum Capital spoke with Julie Cooling, Founder & CEO, RIA Channel about Fulcrum’s value-based investing strategy. With non-profits making up about 20% of Fulcrum’s business and the rest being individuals, Fulcrum utilizes a collaborative method when it comes to putting the right team together and making the best decisions, explained Welcher. The firm focuses on investing in individual securities with a values-based sustainable approach, in terms of environmental, social and governance (ESG). “We also incorporate ETFs for targeted niche investment and thematic approaches,” said Mathieu. Both Fulcrum leaders felt that the rise of values-based investing comes from former business owners, younger generations, and organizations really caring about where their dollars are going. Welcher and Mathieu believed that the significant growth of Fulcrum over the last year, stems from a committed focus to best serving their market, the acquisition of advisors and their passion for helping clients prepare for the unexpected. Based in Canada, Fulcrum Capital currently sits #7 on the Top 100 Emerging Wealth Managers List by RIA Channel with over $750 million in assets under management.
