Building Global Portfolios: Overcoming Home Bias – Janus Henderson – 10.20.17

Home bias is one of the largest biases and biggest trends our Portfolio Construction Services Team sees in advisor portfolios. In fact, our proprietary database shows average overseas allocations at only half the size of the actual overseas markets.

Going global is often not straightforward and can be wrought with myths, misconceptions and blind spots. This webinar will discuss some of these in addition to the benefits of increased international equity exposure and solutions for overcoming home bias.

Speakers:

Adam Hetts is Vice President at Janus Henderson Investors and Head of Portfolio Construction Services. Mr. Hetts leads the portfolio construction services team that is focused on delivering actionable investment strategy and thought leadership in order to help clients across all aspects of the investment management process. From 2011 until joining Janus Henderson in 2017, he was vice president, senior portfolio strategist with Goldman Sachs Asset Management in New York, leading efforts in the U.S. and Asia Pacific regions. Prior to his role as a senior portfolio strategist, Adam worked with Goldman Sachs Principle Strategies, a proprietary hedge fund, and as a corporate strategist within Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, he was a consultant with The Law and Economic Consulting Group in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Hetts earned his bachelor of science in finance with a concentration in accounting from Pennsylvania State University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and FINRA Series 24, 7, and 63 licenses. Mr. Hetts has 12 years of financial industry experience.

Ben Lofthouse is Director, Global Equity Income and Portfolio Manager of a range of equity income mandates at Janus Henderson Investors, including Global Dividend & Income and Global Equity Income strategies. Ben joined Henderson in 2004 as an investment analyst and assistant fund manager on the Equity Income team. He was named a portfolio manager in 2008 and has since managed a range of equity income mandates in both pooled funds and investment markets division and, previous to that, a member of the business recovery services team.

Ben graduated with BA (Hons) in business economics from Exeter University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and has 19 years of financial industry experience.
