Beacon Pointe’s Eusey On Building A Top RIA Firm

Shannon Eusey, CEO of Beacon Pointe Advisors, joined Julie Cooling, Founder and CEO of RIA Channel, to discuss growing the nation’s largest woman-led RIA business, reaching $26 billion assets under advisement (AUA) and 400 team members.

Eusey founded Beacon Pointe Advisors over twenty years ago with the goal of putting clients first and avoiding conflicts of interest.  Half of the leadership and 40% of the team are women, providing much more diversity than is typically found in the industry.

Beacon Pointe has grown both organically and through acquisition, with over thirty organizations joining the firm over the years.  Advisors may join Beacon Pointe to focus on working with clients rather than all the other tasks of managing an advisory organization.  Beacon Pointe has a dedicated management team, leaving advisors to focus on working for their clients rather than managing the firm.  The firm provides advisors with existing capabilities, such as back-office technology and finance and marketing teams.

Because many of the firm’s early clients were foundations and endowments, Beacon Pointe has been offering private wealth clients access to institutional quality alternative investments since the inception of the firm.  The firm has a dedicated in-house team that researches and performs due diligence on alternative investment opportunities.  Additionally, Beacon Pointe employs six in-house estate planning attorneys, strengthening the breadth of the firm’s offerings.
