Your Instructors

Keith Black

PhD, CFA, CAIA, FDP

Dr. Keith Black has over thirty years of financial market experience, serving approximately half of that time as an academic and half as a trader and consultant to institutional investors. He currently serves as Managing Director, Program Director FDP Charter at the FDP Institute.

During his most recent role as Managing Director of Content Strategy, Keith was responsible for Curriculum development at the CAIA Association. Previously, Keith was a valued team member at Ennis Knupp + Associates, where he advised foundations, endowments and pension funds on their asset allocation and manager selection strategies in hedge funds, commodities, and managed futures. Other experience includes commodities derivatives trading, stock options research and Cboe floor trading, and building quantitative stock selection models for mutual funds and hedge funds. Dr. Black previously served as an assistant professor and senior lecturer at the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Keith has contributed to the CFA Digest, and has published in The Journal of Wealth Management, The Journal of Trading, The Journal of Investing, and The Journal of Alternative Investments, among others. He is the author of the book “Managing a Hedge Fund,” as well as co-author of the second, third, and fourth editions of the CAIA Level I and Level II curriculum. Dr. Black was named to the Institutional Investor magazine’s list of “Rising Stars of Hedge Funds” in 2010.

Dr. Black earned a BA from Whittier College, an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University, and a PhD from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and was a member of the inaugural class of both CAIA and FDP members.

Tom Dunleavy

Senior Research Analyst Messari

Tom Dunleavy is a Senior Research Analyst at Messari who publishes Enterprise research focused on the intersection between traditional finance and crypto. Prior to joining the team at Messari, Tom spent four years as the Vice President of Institutional Investment Consulting at Meketa Investment Group and also worked for seven years in investment management at State Street.

Tom graduated from Bentley University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and afterward earned both his CFA and CAIA Charter. In his free time, Tom enjoys watching the NFL, MLB and golf, and wrestling with his kids

Matthew Flood

Head of Business Development – U.S. Hashdex

As the Head of Business Development-U.S., Mr. Flood will focus on expanding U.S. distribution and fund product access along with Hashdex’s partner, Victory Capital Management. Throughout his career, Mr. Flood has focused on providing investors the best investment opportunities across all alternative asset classes, while also ensuring proper internal controls, policies, and procedures are implemented and continuously updated to mitigate operational risks.

Mr. Flood joins Hashdex with two decades of industry experience within finance and asset management. He was most recently at Morgan Stanley, where he led sales for the firm’s Outsourced Chief Investment Office. Prior to this role, Mr. Flood held positions at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, UBS Asset Management, and Mercer Consulting, where he performed operational due diligence evaluations on alternative asset managers. He began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers and General Electric. Mr. Flood holds a B.S. in Accounting from Iona College.

Scott Kefer CFA®

Senior Portfolio Manager VictoryShares and Solutions

Scott Kefer, CFA®, is a Senior Portfolio Manager for VictoryShares and Solutions. In this role he utilizes his more than 25 years of active management expertise to focus on the continued growth and development of the firm’s rules-based and custom investment solutions. Mr. Kefer also supports the firm’s sales efforts by providing strategic insights and education to professional investors and clients.

In addition to his role with VictoryShares and Solutions, Mr. Kefer is a Senior Portfolio Manager for NewBridge Asset Management, a Victory Capital investment franchise, and a member of the NewBridge Large Cap Growth portfolio management team.

He joined Victory Capital in 1999 with six years of prior investment experience. Previously, he held a similar position in the Campbell, Cowperthwait division of U.S Trust Company.

Mr. Kefer holds a Bachelor of Science in business management from Skidmore College and is a CFA® charterholder.

Jake is the Head of Digital Asset Index Research at Nasdaq. He is responsible for providing thought leadership on the crypto and digital asset space and works with ETP providers, other product sponsors and institutional clients on opportunities surrounding blockchain technology and digital asset infrastructure. He often speaks at industry conferences and leads client discussions.

Jake was previously the Head of Advisory at Smith + Crown, a boutique cryptoeconomics consulting firm, where he helped clients of all sizes evaluate and develop token economic strategies using a broad set of emerging blockchain and traditional technologies. He was previously a Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Roundtree Capital Management, a boutique alternative asset management firm specializing in fundamental and technical equity trading strategies. Prior to launching Roundtree Capital, Jake was a Vice President at Citigroup, most recently as a banker leading origination and execution efforts across a portfolio of multinational technology companies. Jake has been a CFA charterholder since 2012 and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business in December 2007.

Ian Saunders has been with Nasdaq Dorsey Wright since 2014 and in his current role on the research team since 2018. As an analyst, he provides technical market commentary through the firm’s written reports that includes focused research on cryptocurrencies, among other assets.This work also leads to the development of investment solutions and models geared toward the advisor community.

Having led educational initiatives at conferences, webinars, and college classes, he is passionate about explaining how Point & Figure methodology and Relative Strength investing can be utilized by financial professionals around the world. Ian graduated from the College of William and Mary with degrees in economics and accounting.
