Economic Indicator: FOMC Minutes

What are FOMC Minutes?

FOMC stands for Federal Open Market Committee, and FOMC Minutes refer to the U.S. Federal Reserve notes or minutes that may contain indicating language regarding the potential increase or decrease of interest rates. The Federal Reserve meets at least eight times in any given year and according to the Federal Reserve Calendar.  The Federal Reserve (“The Fed”) is the central bank of the United States and sets monetary policy. Janet Yellen is the current Chair of The Fed. FOMC minutes provide detailed policy setting notes used by economists and market watchers to determine potential policy changes or market movements. Interest rates are set or changed by The Fed to avoid inflationary or deflationary pressures.
