Brandes’ Marsha Otto Talks Active Management And Finding Value In Emerging Markets

Marsha Otto, CFA, Director of Mutual Funds, Brandes Investment Partners sat down with Julie Cooling, Founder & CEO, RIA Channel at the 2018 Morningstar Conference in Chicago to discuss their investment approach, valuations and where her team is finding promising investment opportunities.

Otto manages the Brandes Fund Complex, which offers actively managed, Graham-and-Dodd style value funds across multiple market caps and regions.  Brandes specializes in global fundamental research and value mandates.  Otto thinks valuations have been stretched for some time, and that active management is critical now more than ever. In the DCIO space, Brandes’ International Equity Fund has become a staple for many advisors, ranking 10 out of 10 on the RPAG (Retirement Plan Advisory Group) Fiduciary Score Card due to their style purity and strong diversification characteristics.

Brandes launched two mutual funds this year including a U.S. small cap value fund and a NextShares U.S. large cap value fund. For more information, visit the Brandes site for advisors.
