Speakers:

L. Bryan Carter, CFA
Head of Emerging Markets Fixed Income
BNP Paribas Asset Management

Bryan is the Head of Emerging Market Fixed Income at BNP Paribas Asset Management. In this role, he is responsible for setting strategy, generating alpha ideas and risk budgeting for the firm’s emerging markets fixed income business. Bryan joined our firm in 2016 and is based in London.

Prior to joining us, Bryan was a Portfolio Manager at Acadian Asset Management, where he was lead manager for the Emerging Market Debt and Global Absolute Return Bond strategies. Prior to that, he was an Economist at T. Rowe Price Associates Inc., where he developed economic models to analyze global economic data, estimate risks to growth and inflation, and forecast interest rates. He began his career as an International Economist at the United States Treasury Department, where he recommended US vote on hundreds of International Monetary Fund, World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank loans.

In the non-profit community, Bryan is involved in the Emerging Market Investors Alliance, for which he co-chairs the Fiscal Transparency Committee charged with furthering investor awareness of data transparency issues and organizing educational events.

Bryan has 13 years of investment experience. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Spanish from Georgetown University as well as a Master of International Development from Harvard University. Bryan is a CFA charterholder.

Pamela Woo
Head of US Equities
BNP Paribas Asset Management

Pamela is the Head of the US Equities team at BNP Paribas Asset Management. Pamela was a Portfolio Manager and Analyst focusing on Consumer Discretionary before becoming the head of team in 2013. She joined us in 2004 and is based in Boston.

Pamela is the most experienced and longest tenured member of the team. Prior to her current responsibilities, Pamela was Portfolio Manager for Consumer Discretionary. Prior to joining us, she was Vice President, Senior Equity Analyst and Global Sector Manager at Wellington Management. During her time there, she had specific responsibility for global consumer stocks. Prior to that, she was a Vice President, Equity Analyst at Evergreen Investments, and a Vice President, Industry Analyst at Merrill Lynch. She began her career as a Senior Tax Associate at Coopers & Lybrand in 1988.

Pamela has over 25 years of investment experience. She earned her BS from the University of California, Berkeley and her MBA from Harvard Business School.

Steven Friedman
Senior Economist
BNP Paribas Asset Management

Steven is a Senior Economist at BNP Paribas Asset Management. In this role, he is responsible for developing thematic views on the market, economic and policy outlook in the US and other major economies. Steven joined our company in 2013 and is based in New York.

Prior to his current role, Steven was a Director for the Central Banks and Official Institutions team at BNPP AM. Prior to joining us, Steven held various senior positions within the Markets Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, including Director of Market Analysis and Director of Foreign Exchange and Investments.

Steven has over 19 years of investment-related experience. He holds a BA in Government and Russian studies from Wesleyan University, an MA in International Relations from The Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at The Johns Hopkins University, and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
